PHD: Course Structure

The course comprises the following components:

  • submission of the proposed research topic;
  • preparatory reading and an intensive Research Methods Seminar;
  • development of the thesis proposal;
  • appointment of a Research Supervisor and other members of the Supervisory Panel;
  • approval of the thesis proposal by the Supervisory Panel and subsequently by the Human Research Ethical Standards committee;
  • regular contact is encouraged between the candidate and the Research Supervisor (on a monthly basis at a minimum) by phone, fax, email and face-to-face sessions for guidance, support and feedback;
  • an annual meeting with the Research Supervisor in Adelaide or other suitable location; and
  • the writing up of a thesis under the supervision of the Research Supervisor.

In addition, Gibaran Graduate School of Business provides candidates with individual access to a computer-based virtual library.
